The Printemps Haussmann is hosting the temporary exhibition “Vestologie” beneath its historic blue dome. The exhibition is dedicated to this garment, whose variations have always mirrored the evolution of society and which continues to represent, for designers, an infinite field of stylistic exploration.
Through a thematic journey spanning 800 square meters, the “Vestologie” exhibition traces the rich social and cultural history of this garment—the cornerstone of the modern wardrobe—and plays with contrasts. Eight sections juxtapose works or representations from fashion history with contemporary pieces. On loan from fashion houses, historical and vintage pieces from collectors, the ESMOD International study collection, the Printemps archives, as well as photographic prints, videos, perfumes, samples, textiles, drawings, patterns, and testimonials are presented, engaging all the senses.
