Born in Rome, Paolo de Cesare graduated with a degree in economics and business from the University of Rome. He started his career in 1983 at Procter & Gamble and held management positions in Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States and Switzerland during his 24 years with the company. From 1999 to 2002, he was the General Manager and President of the Beauty Care Division for the Japan-Korea zone. From 2002 to 2007, he served as the President of Global Skin Care and Global Prestige Beauty in Switzerland.


Paolo de Cesare became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Printemps Group on the 1st of September 2007, following PPR’s sale of Printemps to new shareholders Deutsche Bank and the Borletti Group in 2006.


Paolo de Cesare is currently President of IGDS (International Group of Department Stores).
He was a former independent member of the Board of Directors of Cimpress Inc. (Vistaprint) in the United States and Indesit (White goods manufacturer) in Italy.
