Final edition of 8 Jours Or

After nearly 40 years of operation, the 8 Jour Or initiative is celebrating its final edition from March 2-13, 2022.

Due to a lack of sources, determining the exact date of the 1st edition of “8 Jours en Or” remains difficult. We know that it was already around in 1980, but the initiative probably began in the fall of 1978 or 1979.

At first, the initiative only took place in the fall because the Fête du Printemps was already the big event of the first half of the year. The original goal was to rival the 3J des Galeries Lafayette event, which had been the department store’s flagship event in October since 1959. It was not until 1982 that the initiative was duplicated at the start of the spring-summer season.

The official colors were blue and yellow at first, before switching to bordeaux and yellow in 1991. In 2004, the initiative was renamed “8 Jours Or” and adopted a new color scheme of pink and gold.

Certain memorable campaigns rose to prominence, such as the illustrations against the backdrop of a golden sun or, between 2008 and 2015, the face of famous model Freja Beha Erichsen wrapped in gold ribbons.

For more than 40 years, this initiative has stood as one of the flagship events of the Printemps identity!
